Select Season:
It's over now
eb Mar 27, 2006

After four tight maps (or rather three tight maps and a not so tight one) the winner of DuelMania Reloaded Pt.1 was figured out: reppie from the Netherlands did it again. After winning DuelMania 4 in September 2004 he could continue his success and take out Avenger in todays Grand Finale with a score of 3:1.

The Match report can be found here. Unfortunately the server where the matches got played didn't record demos, so you have to view Demos of POV Avenger and Demos of POV reppie separately.

Anyway, a great season has come to an end, and I wanna say thank you to the crew, to our guests/spectators and of course to the participating players. Congratulations again, reppie!

Avenger interview
Shame Mar 26, 2006

I took the liberty of interviewing Avenger before the match tonight. I haven't done interviews before, but I think I did ok and we had a nice conversation.

You can read it here: http://quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?id=421

Tonight's the night!
eb Mar 26, 2006

Tonight we will see the Grand Finale between reppie and Avenger. The match is scheduled for 22:30cet. Watch out for .qw on Quakenet to get the cam-IPs.

If we're lucky, we will also get to hear some commentary by ParadokS who was already kind enough to do the commentary for the LB Finale (Match Report + Commentary). Hopefully he doesn't have to play EQL/NQR with his clan slackers when the game is on, so that we can enjoy his singing-interludes.

I expect the match to be extremely tight with both players being really good allrounders, taking out high-class duellers like LocKtar, ParadokS, razor and locust in the course of the tournament.

In the best case (or worst case for the players ;) we see two best-of-five matches, since Avenger has to beat reppie twice in order to win the tournament. This would make a maximum of ten maps with each map only played two times at most. Sounds like a multifaceted evening to me.

So, enjoy the upcoming Grand Finale and Good Luck to the finalists.

Guesstimate LB Round 14
Shame Mar 23, 2006

Avenger and LocKtar will be facing off tonight at 20:30 CET.

As promised, there's a Guesstimate poll running on the QW.nu forums.

Take a peek, cast a vote and post a comment on who you think will be the one to face Reppie in the Grand Finale of Duelmania Pt.1.

Do so, here.

Disclaimer: 20:30 CET is the current scheduled playing time. This might change for the better/worse during the course of the evening.

Guesstimate LB Round 13
Shame Mar 18, 2006

If all goes well, and the players are ready. Tomorrow (sunday) should be a very interesting day, indeed. We get to enjoy the coming battle between Avenger and ParadokS.

Cast your vote on who will come out on top here: Guesstimate Poll!

And don't forget to watch the game, which is currently scheduled for sunday 19/03/2006 @ ~20:00 CET (8pm). I'm sure there will be enough cam's for everyone :)

phpTourney released
eb Mar 16, 2006

Finally I managed to upload a copy of the tournament script that DuelMania is using. You can download it on the phpTourney site.

It doesn't support 2on2 or 4on4 modes, but I guess the script could be raped to even do that. (Just create accounts for users like player-A_player-B). Hopefully some people find the time and muse to run some more tournaments. For instance country-based duel-tournaments or an international 2on2-tournament.

Guesstimate this!
Shame Mar 14, 2006

It's time to start guesstimating the remaining matches in this part of Duelmania. I'll be putting up a guesstimate poll on the http://quakeworld.nu/ forums for each match (or try to, atleast).

This round of Guesstimate is LB - Round 12 - Match 2 between ParadokS and Rock^.

Knock yourselves out, at the Guesstimate Poll.

Heading towards the climax... :D_\o_|
eb Mar 14, 2006

I would exaggerate if I said that we've seen an unbelievable WB Finale. We had disconnecting cams and we had a server crash. As a direct result of that we had kind of unsatisfied players/spectators/admins. It was one of these days, so let's check off this issue asap and look forward to the things that are coming: ParadokS vs Rock^: Wednesday around 18:00cet OR Thursday around 18:30cet Avenger vs Winner LocKtar vs Winner

If everything runs smoothly we will have those three matches in this week and the Grande Finale in the coming weekend. Stay tuned!

Upcoming Semi Finals...
eb Mar 3, 2006

We're going to have the Semi Finals this weekend. The schedule of the two encounters are: reppie vs razor: Sunday around 21:00-22:00cet LocKtar vs Rock^: Sunday 15:00cet

Also the following LB matches will be played this weekend, but have no schedule yet: ParadokS vs fix locust vs Avenger pkk vs ParadokS / fix

The games will be announced in QuakeNet via dotqw. Cams will be on Splatterfest (62.26.123.23:27501) and DVDAlright (195.54.132.54:28000). Good luck to the competitors! Don't you dare miss it!

Quarter Finals
eb Feb 24, 2006

We already are at the Quarter Finals of this DuelMania and some fine matches have been played, like fix vs razor and LocKtar vs locust.

Watch out for the upcoming Quarter Final matches reppie vs mm and Rock^ vs cge. Also the LB is coming to a head with some nice matches in Round 9 and also Round 8 match cujo (aka Paradoks) vs insane (on saturday probably).

Deadlines are: WB Round 6: Deadline: Sunday 2006-02-26 LB Round 9: Deadline: Sunday 2006-02-26

Good news everyone...
eb Feb 15, 2006

Slasher from the ESR crew is so kind to do DuelMania coverage on ESReality. I think it's a great thing to have and it surely will be beneficial for the "inter-game communication" (be it flame, criticism or compliments).

Furthermore we would like to get as much DuelMania match-demos uploaded as possible. The ESReality Demo section is the right place for it and it would be nice if the players weren't too shy to upload it there.

Ah btw the new deadlines are:

WB Round 5: Deadline: Sunday 2006-02-19 LB Round 6: Deadline: Thursday 2006-02-16 LB Round 7: Deadline: Sunday 2006-02-19

Since the rounds are getting hot and hotter, players should provide the admins with the schedule for camming- and dotqwing-action.

HFGL!

Moving along!
Drugs-Bunny Feb 6, 2006

Ladies and gents, girls and boys, it's time to move onto the next round of DuelMania and deadlines are as follows:

WB Round 4: Deadline: Sunday 2006-02-12 LB Round 4: Deadline: Thursday 2006-02-09 LB Round 5: Deadline: Sunday 2006-02-12

This round holds for some hot matches and to name a few, LocKtar vs jogi -insane- vs kingpin fix vs pkk cge vs lbn

Schedule your matches as early as possible, and don't forget that there are two rounds per week in the losers bracket! Also inform the admins about the status of your schedule.

And don't forget that we also have alot of matches in the LB, and with that said I'd like to end my post with a little saying.

The wolf on the hill is not as hungry as the wolf climbing the hill.

Good luck and may the best man prevail!

Right on!
eb Jan 30, 2006

Cheating
eb Jan 27, 2006

There was an incident in EQL where a player was using an aimbot. He got kicked out of the running EQL season and since that player also attended here in our tournament, we kicked him out too.

My intention to write this is not to discredit that player in public or anything like that. I just want to make sure that everybody gets the right message out of this: There is no room for cheaters in the Quakeworld scene! We want them neither in our scene, nor in our tournaments. The admins don't demand much of the players - they should simply show some respect for their opponents and play fair.

The matches that he played got discarded and got changed to walkovers for the affected players.

Second week started
Vertigo Jan 23, 2006

First week of Duelmania Reloaded Pt.1 is now behind and we are that much closer to the Grande Finale!

Like I stated before, Duelmania Reloaded Pt.1 has got an excellent response from the current QW scene and I just have to repeat that. As I am writing this news, we have currently 124 official 1on1 games played already. Incredible number.

Monday is the starting point of Winners Bracket round 2. and Losers Bracket round 1.

DEADLINE FOR BOTH BRACKETS IS SUNDAY 29th of January!

Losers Bracket will start a tighter schedule after this week. Losers Bracket will then have two rounds each week, while Winners Bracket continues with one round per week -pace.

Contact Duelmania admin crew if you have troubles scheduling your match or if you cannot find your opponent. Keep us informed, so we can do the possible decisions if needed.

Enough of babbling here. Second week begins now!

Insane Duelmania weekend coming up!
Vertigo Jan 20, 2006

Duelmania Reloaded Pt.1 has started really well. Total of 80 games have been played during the first four days. Which means 20 official 1on1's each day!

The first Duelmania weekend will be just as hectic as the first four days. Winners Bracket round 1. has still 56 games left, so the european 1on1 servers will be crowded from noon to dawn.

The deadline for Winners Bracket round 1. is on sunday.

Next week will give you Winners Bracket round 2. and also the first round of Losers Bracket, which also starts on monday with 64 tight games.

But before all that, there's still 56 thrilling matches to play. Go ahead and fill those bloody 1on1 servers! The first weekend of Duelmania Reloaded Pt.1 begins now.

Brackets are up!
eb Jan 16, 2006

Hokay, after some seeding action by my beloved admin team, we finally got it settled, and put the brackets up. You should have an email in your inbox telling you what opponent you got. You can also check your next match to be played, in case you are logged in. You also can look at an overview of the bracket.

We got 13 qualification matches, and their deadline is next thursday, 2006-01-19. The deadline for the first round WB matches is sunday, 2006-01-22.

Now find your opponent and have some fun! GL!

Signups have reached the 256 player mark
eb Jan 15, 2006

Now that we got over 256 players we have to go with a 256 bracket + qualifiers. JFYI: qualification games have no double elimination. The signups are still open, so don't hesitate to sign up for the tournament.

More infos later today.

QW forum
sassa Jan 14, 2006

We got a new QW forum here that will take QW.nu's place until the real site is up, then the forum will be moved back to its originally spot with the current database.

The tourneys will have their own section there and so will Duelmania!

256 bracket reloaded!
Vertigo Jan 13, 2006

Duelmania admin crew decided tonight to use the huge 256 players bracket due to the extensive amount of signups. This will be the third time when Duelmania goes with the huge system. The 256 players bracket was also used during Duelmania seasons 3 and 4.

Duelmania Reloaded Pt.1 has got an excellent response from the current QW scene and players have shown a great deal of intrest towards the best QW 1on1 tournament ever.

On behalf of Duelmania admin crew I want to thank everybody who has signed up to the tourney and also those who will do so before the deadline. Admin crew will do everything to make your Duelmania-experience as good as it has always been!

Signups / Tournament start
eb Jan 12, 2006

The rate of incoming signups is decreasing and you can act on the assumption that the signups close on sunday at midnight. The brackets will be up shortly after the signups closed and directly after this the tournament starts on monday.

P.S. Some people registered an account, but didn't sign up for the season. While for some this was intended, others may think that they signed up for the tournament. In case you want to participate, please check back in the signups list if your name appears. If not, click the 'SIGN UP' button.

Fallbunny issue
eb Jan 11, 2006

There was some discussion on IRC about the fallbunny setting. It wasn't mentioned in the rules at all, and people were asking what the default should be. I first added that the default should be ON, except both players want it OFF. The reason for that was the fact that nowadays on half the servers it is ON. For example: in .de, .dk and .fi. Since the default KTPRO setting is OFF and the status quo is OFF, the rule says that the default setting for fallbunny is OFF, except both players want it turned ON.

Btw the signups will run some more days. Go tell your friends to sign up ASAP tho! :)

Sign up for the tournament!
eb Jan 9, 2006

Welcome to DuelMania Reloaded Pt.1. Why 'Reloaded' you ask? Well, chronologically we would have Season 5 now, but since our former host quakeworld.nu died, we had to start over. To prevent name confusion we entitled it 'Reloaded'.

Your admin team for this season consists of Vertigo, Sassa, Drugs-Bunny, racersnigeln, caban and me. Feel free to ask whatever question arises concerning the tournament or life in general. :P

The signups are now officially opened and will run for ca. one week. Don't forget to read the rules before you sign up.

More information on the start of the tournament and the tournament system will be given here. Traditionally DuelMania runs a double elimination system and this one won't be an exception. The mappool will be DM2, DM4, DM6, AEROWALK, ZTNDM3. Rocket jump scripts won't be allowed.
